«El vigilant en el camp de sègol» is the novel by J. D. Salinger, published by labutxaca in paperback (288 pages, in Catalan).
The protagonist, young Holden Cauldfield, turns two days in New York into an escape from the adult world he rejects. He wants to protect his childhood, a pure territory that no longer belongs to him, and although he knows that growing up is unstoppable, he rebels against the passage of time and sets out on an uncertain path from which it is hard to return.
Work originally published as «The Catcher in the Rye» in 1951; this Catalan edition includes a translation by Ernest Riera Arbussà and Josep M. Fonalleras and belongs to the Labutxaca collection.
A common reading in schools, intended for both young readers and adults who want to revisit a twentieth-century classic.

Jerome David Salinger was an American author best known for his 1951 novel The Catcher in the Rye. Salinger published several short stories in Story magazine in 1940, before serving in World War II. In 1948, his critically acclaimed story "A Perfect Day for Bananafish" appeared in The New Yorker, which published much of his later work.
