Esta aventura llevará a Tintín a ser secuestrado y abandonado en el mar, para luego rescatarse y desembarcar en Arabia, enfrentando numerosas peripecias hasta llegar a la India, donde se hospedará en la casa del Maharajá de Rawhapurtaláh. En esta travesía, se cruzarán personajes inolvidables como los policías Dupond y Dupont, el malvado Rastapopoulos y el singular Oliveira da Figueira.
