«Els desorientats» is the contemporary fiction novel by Amin Maalouf, published by Alianza in paperback (504 pages, in Catalan).
Adam, an Arab professor of History, returns after twenty-five years of exile to the land where he was born, drawn by an unexpected call. Everything he left behind seems the same: the mountain, his childhood friends, the circle of Byzantines who wanted to change the world. But a war separated them and twisted their lives along very different paths. With the help of Semiramis, Adam tries to reunite those who are still alive.
Novel for contemporary fiction readers interested in Maalouf's reflections on exile, friendship, and the ties between East and West.
