«Els estranys» is a contemporary fiction novel by Raül Garrigasait Colomés, published by Edicions de 1984 in paperback (185 pages, in Catalan).
In 1837, during the Carlist War, a young Prussian crosses the Pyrenees to fight for order, but a misunderstanding leaves him stranded in a ruined city. His astonishment grows until it becomes his only way of seeing the world: friendship, family, religion and politics are all turned upside down in a tale between humor and tragedy, with eccentric characters and music.
Part of the Mirmanda collection, number 155. It won the Premi Llibreter for narrative and the Premi Òmnium for best novel of the year in 2017.
For readers of contemporary literary fiction, with an interest in current Catalan narrative and stories set in the nineteenth century.
