«Els hereus de la terra» is the historical novel by Manuel Bofarull Terrades, published by Edicions 62 in paperback (224 pages, in Catalan).
Set in Catalonia during the Liberal Triennium, the novel follows Joan Romagosa, an absolutist guerrilla supporter of Ferdinand VII, through the account of Pau Nin i Manyer, his servant and companion. With plain language and a homely, antiheroic view, it recreates the political and military struggles of the era and the human profile of the character.
First edition in the El Balancí collection, published on April 1, 1987. Winner of the Premi Sant Joan 1986.
For readers of historical fiction and Catalan narrative seeking a close approach to a 19th-century episode.
