«Els Watson» is the play by Laura Wade (Generalitat de Catalunya and Teatre Nacional de Catalunya, paperback, 159 pages, in Catalan).
Emma Watson, nineteen, returns to her village after being raised in luxury at her aunt's house and must marry to avoid falling into poverty. Among her suitors are Tom Musgrave and Lord Osborne. The comedy, based on an unfinished novel by Jane Austen, shows how a writer loses control of the plot and the characters take the reins.
