«En el día de hoy» is the historical fiction novel by Jesús Torbado, published by Planeta in paperback (361 pages, in Spanish).
In 1939 the Republic has won the Civil War: Azaña and Negrín have retired, Besteiro is president and Indalecio Prieto head of government; Franco and his loyalists go into exile in Cuba. On this uchronia, Torbado imagines an inverted postwar period that, with humor and irony, reveals paradoxes of a historical vision far from partisanship.
The novel, originally published in 1976, received the Planeta Prize that year; the present edition is from 1988.
For readers interested in alternative history and the Spanish Civil War.
