«En nombre de Franco» is the historical essay by Arcadi Espada, published by Espasa in paperback (312 pages, in Spanish).
In 1944, with nearly half a million Hungarian Jews deported, neutral embassies try to save the refugees of Budapest. At the Spanish legation, Ángel Sanz Briz and his group apply the instructions of Franco's government, which seeks a safe-conduct in the face of Nazi defeat. Espada contrasts the truth of the facts with the legend.
Published on March 12, 2013; includes bibliography (pages 296-301).
For readers interested in the history of the Holocaust, World War II and Spanish diplomacy.
