«Erika» is a short-story collection by Elke Heidenreich published by Rowohlt Taschenbuch in paperback in 2001, with 91 pages in German.
The stories combine melancholy and reconciliation: in the title story, Betty, disoriented on the eve of the holidays, feels she has forgotten how to live. An enormous stuffed pig named Erika ends up restoring a hidden meaning to her life, with a tone that Michael Sowa's illustrations make warm and endearing.
The book belongs to the Rororo collection (no. 22972) and brings together the stories 'Die Liebe', 'Der Hund wird erschossen' and 'Erika'.
Suitable for readers of contemporary German fiction who enjoy illustrated stories with a melancholy, intimate and Christmassy atmosphere.
