«Ernesto Guevara, connu aussi comme le Che» is the biography of Ernesto «Che» Guevara by Paco Ignacio Taibo II (Payot, 796 pages, paperback, in French).
Drawing on important partly unpublished material (Cuban archives, diaries, testimonies and photographs), Taibo II reconstructs the life of Ernesto Guevara beyond the myth and portrays the man behind the Che: an insolent guerrilla, hard on himself and far more complex than the popular icon suggests.
The Spanish original was published in 1996; the French translation is by Florence Bourgade, Béatrice de Chavagnac and Corinne Gobin.
For those who want a documented view of Che Guevara and the revolutionary history of Latin America, beyond the iconography.
