Discover the fascinating evolution of stairs through time and civilizations in this design book. Originally conceived as a technical solution to overcome unevenness, stairs have been transformed into essential architectural elements in the configuration of spaces. This book presents a wide collection of photographs of contemporary staircases, revealing an astonishing diversity in shapes and materials. From particular designs and decorative spirals to the use of wood, stone, steel or concrete, 'Escaleras' offers an inventory of current staircases, exploring textures, lighting and the articulation of space.
