«Ex Cattedra» is the novel by Domenico Starnone published by Feltrinelli in paperback, with 131 pages, in Italian.
The action takes place in a secondary school during the 1985-1986 academic year; teachers and students wander through classrooms and corridors in a purposeless routine. An echo from the outside ignites fleeting enthusiasm and everything returns to normal. The work arose from a weekly report on schools that appeared in «il manifesto» and resolves as tragicomedy.
The cover includes a drawing by Sergio Staino.
Recommended for readers seeking a tragicomic satire of the school world with a backdrop of social criticism.
