«Fables de la Fontaine» is the collection of verse fables by Jean de La Fontaine, published by Gründ in 2003, in hardcover and with French text.
Jean de La Fontaine rewrote fables of Western and Eastern origin in verse, with a humorous, ironic and nuanced tone. Published in several volumes between 1668 and 1694, these stories are considered classics of French literature.
The volume belongs to the collection Contes et fables de toujours. The illustrated cover shows a fox sitting under a vine with bunches of grapes.
Although intended for adults, they were school reading; this French edition is useful for students and for reading La Fontaine in his original language.
