«Fuente Ovejuna» is the Golden Age play by Lope de Vega, published by Anaya Infantil y Juvenil in paperback (160 pages, in Spanish).
Set in the village of Fuente Ovejuna, the play shows how the people, weary of their commander's tyranny, rise up against him. Lope de Vega weaves the collective conflict with the love story of Laurencia and Frondoso and raises questions about the limits of power, honor and popular justice, in a drama that renewed the theater of his time.
2004 edition from the Biblioteca Didáctica Anaya collection (number 7), with illustrations by Javier Serrano.
Aimed at literature students and readers of classical Spanish theater; recommended reading from age 14.
Dramaturgo y poeta español del Siglo de Oro, autor de Fuente Ovejuna, El caballero de Olmedo y El perro del hortelano.
