«Gene» is the science fiction and fantasy novel by Stel Pavlou, published by Simon & Schuster Ltd in paperback (430 pages, in English).
James North, a detective, responds to a hostage situation; the kidnapper, one Gene, asks to speak with him. After an incident, he is injected with a substance that causes nightmares and foreign memories, dragging him into an age-old rivalry: the Greek warrior Cyclades, reincarnated seven times since the Trojan War, against the Babylonian magician Athanatos. In this life, neither knows who is who.
Originally published in English in 2004, the novel blends police investigation with Greek and Babylonian mythology.
For readers of thrillers and mythological fantasy, and for those seeking action novels with reincarnations and mysteries spanning eras.
