«Gestapo» is the war novel by Sven Hassel, published by Inédita in paperback (400 pages, in Spanish).
The action is set in World War II and follows a group of German soldiers from a punishment battalion, including Hermanito, in combat and trench settings. With raw realism, Sven Hassel —who served as a private in the German army— portrays the violence of the front, Nazi crimes, and the soldiers' cynical humor.
Originally published in 1963, it is the sixth installment in the «Legion of the Damned» series; translated by Alfredo Crespo López.
For readers of war and historical fiction interested in a raw look at World War II and German soldiers.
Sven Hassel was the pen name of the Danish-born Børge Willy Redsted Pedersen known for his bestselling novels about German soldiers fighting in World War II. In Denmark he used the pen name Sven Hazel. He is one of the bestselling Danish authors, possibly second only to Hans Christian Andersen.
