«Grandfather's Old Bruk-a-Down Car» is a children's poetry collection by John Agard, published by Red Fox in paperback (64 pages, in English).
The poems explore affection for the most cherished possessions: Aunt Nell's lucky suitcase, Ma Flo's rocking chair, and Grandfather's old broken-down car. Everyday objects become little treasures with Kevin Dean's illustrations.
This 1997 edition belongs to the Red Fox poetry books series. The work was originally published in 1994 by The Bodley Head.
Aimed at children from about 6 years old and readers seeking children's poetry in English.
John Agard FRSL is a Guyanese-born British playwright, poet and children's writer. In 2012, he was selected for the Queen's Gold Medal for Poetry. He was awarded BookTrust's Lifetime Achievement Award in November 2021.
