«Granny Fixit and the Pirate» is the graded English reader by Jane Cadwallader, published by ELI in paperback (32 pages, in English).
Jill and Ahmed are in class and have to write an adventure story; when they open a big yellow book, they magically appear on a pirate ship. There they meet Pirate Bill, who is sad because he has no hat, treasure or parrot. With Granny Fixit and a flock of multicolored parrots, the adventure is full of surprises.
It belongs to the Young ELI Readers series, Stage 1, with a vocabulary of about 100 words (pre-A1 level). It includes illustrations by Gustavo Mazali, language activities and an illustrated dictionary.
Recommended from age 6, it is suitable for young learners of English as a second language who are beginning to read on their own.
