In 'Great House', Nicole Krauss weaves a poignant story about memory, loss, and the search for permanence in a constantly changing world. Through characters interconnected by a desk with multiple drawers, the novel explores how the past influences the present and how objects can become symbols of what we have lost. From a solitary American novelist to an antique dealer in Jerusalem, each character faces profound questions about heritage, identity, and the ability to create meaning amidst destruction and disappearance.
