«Grecidad y otros poemas» is the poetry collection by Yannis Ritsos, published by Visor Libros in paperback (78 pages, in Spanish).
The central poem, «Grecidad», portrays the resistance of Greek guerrillas during the Nazi invasion through a landscape of stones, olive trees and scorching light; nature becomes a symbol of a poor, besieged and dignified Greece. The rest of the volume gathers other poems by the author in the same vein, between elegy and hope.
Volume 91 of the Visor de Poesía collection. Translated from the Greek by Eleni Perdikini; edited by Alberto Corazón.
For readers of Greek and European poetry, interested in the Generation of '30 and in the memory of 20th-century Greece.
