In ¡Hamlet, venganza! by Michael Innes, fiction merges with reality during an amateur performance of Hamlet at the Duke of Horton's mansion. The actor playing Polonius, an important political figure, is murdered, leading Detective John Appleby to investigate the case. This cultured investigator, not fond of taking fingerprints, steps in to solve the mystery behind this crime in the world of Elizabethan theater.
