«Henri ou l'éducation nationale» is the novel by French writer Jean Dutourd, published by Flammarion in paperback (315 pages, in French).
The novel follows Henri, a seventeen-year-old youth in rebellion against national education, his family, adults, politics, and the modern world. Henri does not fit into the system: he aspires to resemble Julien Sorel and stages an atypical rebellion. With characters and adventures of a classic novel, Dutourd portrays contemporary French society.
Originally published in 1983, the novel belongs to French literary fiction; Jean Dutourd was a member of the Académie française.
For adult readers interested in French literature and stories of youthful rebellion.
