«Hijo único» is the historical novel by Stéphane Audeguy, published by Vía Magna in hardcover (284 pages, in Spanish).
The novel starts from Jean-Jacques Rousseau's brief mention of his older brother, François, in his Confessions. Expelled from Geneva and trained as a watchmaker, François travels through 18th-century Paris among libertine circles, and his journey crosses paths with the arrival of the Revolution. A sort of anti-Confessions.
Original title: Fils unique, translated by Laura Martínez. It belongs to Vía Magna's Histórica collection and won the Prix Les Deux-Magots.
For readers of historical fiction and French literature, especially those interested in the figure of Rousseau and 18th-century Paris.
