«Hijos de Adán / Cálamo» is a poetry book by Walt Whitman, published by Busma in paperback (121 pages, in Spanish).
Spanish-language edition of two sections that Walt Whitman added to «Hojas de hierba» in the third edition of that poetry collection, the one from 1860. In «Hijos de Adán», the poet sings of the body, love, fertility and life; in «Cálamo», a title alluding to a plant, he celebrates universal comradeship and love between men.
The translation is by Enrique López Castellón. Volume 17 of the P.P.C. collection was published in Madrid in 1984 and includes a bibliography.
For readers of classical poetry and admirers of nineteenth-century American literature.

Walter Whitman Jr. was an American poet, essayist, and journalist; he also wrote two novels. He is considered one of the most influential poets in American literature and world literature. Whitman incorporated both transcendentalism and realism in his writings and is often called the father of free verse. His work was controversial in his time, particularly his 1855 poetry collection Leaves of Grass, which was described by some as obscene for its overt sensuality.
