«Hikikomori (L'era del buit)» is the play by Jordi Faura, published by Edicions Bromera in paperback (120 pages, in Catalan).
The Japanese word hikikomori designates the young person, often a teenager, who isolates themselves when unable to meet social expectations. The play, set in Japan, portrays the emptiness that invades many young people in the developed world and the self-destruction some undertake. Hikikomori (L'era del buit) won the XXII Premi de Teatre Ciutat de València.
Hikikomori is number 43 in the Bromera Teatre collection, with an introduction by Ramon Rosselló. The first edition was published in 2008.
Reading for adults aged 18 and over, interested in theater and in reflecting on social pressure and youth isolation.
