«Historia de Elio» is the novel by Spanish writer Ramón Tamames, published by Círculo de Lectores in hardcover (262 pages, in Spanish).
A narrator evokes in the first person the years of high school and the beginning of his friendship with Elio, in a time marked by poverty and hunger. What attracts him most about the boy is his natural way of speaking, like someone older, and the clarity with which he conveys what he thinks.
