Historia y consciencia de clase (1923) es la principal obra filosófico-política de Georg Lukács, con una gran influencia en el pensamiento marxista. Sus teorías estéticas, centradas en la literatura, se basan en un concepto dialéctico del arte estrechamente relacionado con las contradicciones de la sociedad. Lukács plantea una interpretación humanista del marxismo como reacción al determinismo económico, intentando integrar las raíces subjetivas hegelianas y superar las limitaciones del determinismo económico. György Lukács was a Hungarian Marxist philosopher, literary historian, literary critic, and aesthetician. He was one of the founders of Western Marxism, an interpretive tradition that departed from the Soviet Marxist ideological orthodoxy. He developed the theory of reification, and contributed to Marxist theory with developments of Karl Marx's theory of class consciousness. He was also a philosopher of Leninism. He ideologically developed and organised Vladimir Lenin's pragmatic revolutionary practices into the formal philosophy of vanguard-party revolution.
