«Il diario intimo di Sally Mara» is a novel by French writer Raymond Queneau, published by Feltrinelli in paperback (164 pages, in Italian).
The work is presented as the diary of Sally Mara, an eighteen-year-old girl who records with a not entirely innocent candor her daily life and her first sexual experiences. Queneau turns the grotesque and the sordid into comic and strangely normal situations, within a farce that plays with modesty and provocation.
The work was originally published in 1950; this 2009 edition, in Italian, features a translation by Leonella Prato Caruso and belongs to the Universale Economica collection (no. 1232).
For readers of classic fiction and absurd humor seeking a short, ironic and provocative novel within Raymond Queneau's oeuvre.
Raymond Auguste Queneau was a French novelist, poet, critic, editor and co-founder and president of Oulipo, notable for his wit and cynical humour.
