Empire, by Michael Hardt and Antonio Negri, is a profound analysis of the new political order of globalization. The authors argue that imperialism, as we knew it, has evolved into a form of empire that transcends borders and national limits. This book examines the economic, cultural, and legal transformations that are occurring worldwide, placing them in the context of a historical understanding of empire as a universal order. Through philosophical and political analysis, Hardt and Negri explore concepts such as sovereignty, nation, and people, and how these are affected by the cultural and economic changes of postmodern society. In addition, they examine new forms of racism, conceptions of identity and difference, communication and control networks, and migration routes. Empire is a utopian work that seeks to establish the foundations of a truly democratic global society.

Antonio Negri (1881–1966) was an Italian poet, best known for his works in Milanese language. He began writing in 1931, after retiring from work and relocating to Montevecchia, in Brianza, and was later a prolific author. One of his prominent works is On soldaa papà, inspired by On papà soldaa by Giannino Sessa. While both works are based on the theme of a girl whose father dies in World War I, Negri's version is crudely anti-rhetoric and conveys pacifist values that openly contrasted those promoted in Italy by the Fascist regime of the time.
