«In alto a sinistra» is Erri De Luca's collection of short stories, published by Feltrinelli Traveller in paperback (127 pages, in Italian).
Stories that move between youth, a city in southern Italy, sacred books, and the memory of a working-class life with bourgeois origins. De Luca prefers a narrated self to a narrating self. Strokes of luck, rescues, and a resistance to the slippery slope; the final story evokes an ancient emergency exit: in alto a sinistra.
It is number 1348 in the Universale economica Feltrinelli collection, in its eighth edition.
Readers of contemporary Italian fiction and short stories with social and existential undertones.

Enrico "Erri" De Luca is an Italian novelist, translator and poet. He has been recognized by critic Giorgio De Rienzo of Corriere della Sera as "the writer of the decade". He is also known for his opposition to the Lyon-Turin high speed train line, and is being sued for having called for its sabotage. On 19 October 2015, De Luca was cleared of inciting criminal damage. He reacted to the not-guilty verdict declaring that "An injustice has been avoided."
