«In Patagonia» is Bruce Chatwin's travel chronicle, published by Vintage Classics in paperback (288 pages, in English).
Bruce Chatwin narrates his journey through Patagonia, the region at the southern tip of South America, and what he encounters along the way: remote landscapes, stories of settlers and bandits, nearly forgotten legends, and singular characters. The book combines travel writing with historical inquiry and anecdotes gathered on the road.
In Patagonia was originally published in 1977, received the Hawthornden Prize, and describes Argentine and Chilean Patagonia.
For readers interested in travel literature, history, and exploration, or who want to discover Patagonia from a literary perspective.

Charles Bruce Chatwin was an English travel writer, novelist and journalist. His first book, In Patagonia (1977), established Chatwin as a travel writer, although he considered himself instead a storyteller, interested in bringing to light unusual tales. He won the James Tait Black Memorial Prize for his novel On the Black Hill (1982), while his novel Utz (1988) was shortlisted for the Booker Prize. In 2008 The Times ranked Chatwin as number 46 on their list of "50 Greatest British Writers Since 1945".
