«Inconnu à cette adresse» is Kressmann Taylor's epistolary novel, in a paperback edition from the Étonnants Classiques collection (128 pages, in French).
Written as a series of letters exchanged between two business partners and friends, the story takes place between 1932 and 1934 and shows how the rise of Nazism in Germany tests their friendship: one of them, an American Jew, lives in San Francisco, while the other, a German, has returned to his country.
Originally published in English as «Address Unknown» in 1938, it was published as a book in 1939 and was banned in Nazi Germany; the French edition dates from 2017.
For readers of historical fiction and short narrative interested in the effects of Nazism on personal relationships.
