On a freezing winter night in Reykjavik, the discovery of a young Thai boy's lifeless body in a pool of blood shocks Icelandic society. Inspector Erlendur Sveinsson, along with his colleagues Elínborg and Sigurður Óli, takes on the investigation of this case, where the main hypothesis points to a hate crime. The plot thickens as suspicions fall on the victim's school environment, including tutors and classmates. Pressure mounts when the name of an individual known for his open hostility toward immigrants emerges, forcing the police team to unravel a web of prejudice and secrets in a race against time to find the culprit.
