«Irish Fairy Tales» is James Stephens's collection of Irish stories, published by Wordsworth Editions Ltd in paperback (219 pages, in English).
A compilation of tales drawing on Irish Celtic mythology and Nordic imagery, featuring giants, warriors, old women, and maidens. Among its stories, the youthful adventures of the hero Fionn Mac Uail (Finn MacCool) stand out, in a tone closer to classical legend than to children's tales.
The edition belongs to the Wordsworth Children's Classics series and includes illustrations by Arthur Rackham.
Recommended for child and young readers aged 9 to 12, and also for adults interested in Irish Celtic folklore.
