«Isis» is the historical novel by Brigitte Riebe, published by Droemer Knaur in paperback (447 pages, in German).
In Thebes in the 7th century BC, the brothers Anu and Khay compete for the love of Isis, daughter of a sculptor. She chooses the gentle Anu; the proud Khay will not accept defeat. Isis goes to the seer Meret, whose vision of a fratricide revives the myth of Isis and Osiris, and the novel sets that fate against the power of love.
The work was first published in 2002; this Droemer Knaur paperback edition appeared in June 2003.
For readers of historical fiction interested in ancient Egypt and in the reworking of myths such as that of Isis and Osiris.
Brigitte Riebe is a German author of crime and feminist fiction. She writes thrillers under the pseudonym Lara Stern. She lives with her husband in Munich.
