«Jardín de Villa Valeria» is the novel by Manuel Vicent, published by Alfaguara in paperback (272 pages, in Spanish).
The narrator evokes in the first person twenty years of his life in Madrid, from the 1960s to 1982. In a half-ruined mansion, progressive young people and intellectuals gather as they witness the end of Francoism; it is the chronicle of lost youth, new loves and the melancholy of the passage of time.
It belongs to Alfaguara's Hispánica collection and was first published in 1996.
Recommended for readers of contemporary Spanish fiction, particularly those interested in late Francoism and the Transition.
