«Je m'appelle Maryam» is the children's story by Maryam Madjidi, published by Mouche l'école des loisirs in paperback (44 pages, in French).
Maryam is a girl who, along with her parents, must leave her place of origin. In the new country she has to say goodbye to her toys, adapt to unfamiliar words and flavors, and start from scratch in an environment that ignores her. Her identity seems to be lost until a simple question, what her name is, gives her back a place in the world.
Published in 2021 in the Mouche collection from l'école des loisirs, with illustrations by Claude K. Dubois.
Aimed at a children's and young adult audience; it addresses exile, identity and adaptation to a new environment.
