«J'étais Dora Suarez» is the crime novel by Derek Raymond, published by Rivages as a paperback (264 pages, in French).
A tormented police inspector investigates the murder of Dora Suarez, a young London prostitute. Obsessed with the case, he promises the victim reparation and atonement, and the investigation becomes an obsessive identification with the dead woman that leads him to a killer and a denouement that transcends the crime genre.
Fourth installment in the Factory series. The English original, «I Was Dora Suarez», appeared in 1990; this French edition was published in the Rivages/Noir collection, no. 116, in 1991.
