«Jo soc aquell que va matar Franco» is the novel by Joan-Lluís Lluís, published by Proa in hardcover (304 pages, in Catalan).
Agustí Vilamat, who claims to have killed Franco, is born in 1916 in Solsona, loses an eye, and takes refuge in reading and language. Years later he works as a language corrector in Barcelona. The war does not end in 1939: Franco, yielding to Hitler, crosses the Pyrenees, and the Francoist army bombs Argelers, where Agustí is.
The novel received the Premi Sant Jordi 2017 and in 2019 the Ictineu, Maria Àngels Anglada and Joaquim Amat-Piniella awards. It was published in the A Tot Vent collection by Proa.
Suitable for a general audience and, in particular, for readers of historical and literary fiction.

Joan-Lluís Lluís is a Catalan writer. His works include five novels and a collection of essays entitled Conversa amb el meu gos sobre França i els francesos. This last work, which Lluís himself describes as a pamphlet, focuses on the precarious linguistic situation of the Catalans under French administration.
