«Journal d'une allumeuse» is the young adult novel by E. Lockhart, published by Casterman in paperback (224 pages, in French).
Fifteen-year-old Ruby is in therapy after a chaotic week: her boyfriend dumps her, her best friend abandons her, she discovers secrets about her ex, does something daring with another boy, and fails a math exam. Her reputation as an «allumeuse» and general rejection trigger anxiety attacks, while she tries to understand why she assigns numbers to boys.
«Journal d'une allumeuse» is the first installment of the «Ruby Oliver» series. The original work, «The Boyfriend List», was published in 2005.
Aimed at young readers aged 12 and up and at those who enjoy realistic fiction about adolescence.
