«Katie and the Bathers» is a children's book by James Mayhew, published by Orchard Books in paperback (32 pages, in English).
On a hot summer day, Katie and her grandmother look for a swimming pool and end up going into a museum; when Katie splashes about near the paintings, water from the paintings spills out of the frames. The adventure introduces the pointillist school, with works such as Bathers at Asnières and A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte, by Georges Seurat.
It is part of the Katie children's series; the original Spanish title is «Carlota y los bañistas».
Recommended for early readers interested in art and museums, with illustrations inspired by pointillist painting.
James John Mayhew is an English illustrator and author of children's books, storyteller, artist and concert presenter/live art performer.
