«Kevin et les magiciens: La Pendule d'Halloween» is the fantasy novel by John Bellairs, published by Gallimard in paperback (218 pages, in French).
Orphan Kevin moves into the house of his uncle Jonathan, a good-natured wizard, and discovers that the walls hold a disturbing secret: the former owner, Isaac Izard, was an evil sorcerer and hid an enchanted clock that chimes every night. The ticking, sometimes loud and sometimes very soft, seems to mark the countdown to the end of the world.
The 2003 French edition is the translation of the novel «The House with a Clock in Its Walls» (1973), first installment of the Lewis Barnavelt series.
A mystery and magic read with a Halloween atmosphere, aimed at children and young adults.

John Anthony Bellairs was an American author best known for his fantasy novel The Face in the Frost and many Gothic mystery novels for children featuring the characters Lewis Barnavelt, Rose Rita Pottinger, Johnny Dixon, and Anthony Monday.
