«Kuraj» is the novel by Silvia Di Natale, published by Feltrinelli in paperback (453 pages, in Italian).
Naja, a girl from the legendary Tuncian, nomads of the steppe between Iran and Mongolia, is adopted by a German officer. In her new life she gradually renounces her language, her roots and the memory of her people, while the narrative interweaves her personal story with the great settings of World War II and nomadic mythology.
The work belongs to Feltrinelli's I Narratori collection and counts the Bagutta Opera Prima Prize (2001) and the John Florio Prize (2006) among its accolades.
Recommended for readers interested in historical fiction and stories set during World War II.
