«La Alta Edad Media» is a historical non-fiction work by Julio Valdeón Baruque, published by Anaya in paperback (96 pages, in Spanish).
The book starts with the irruption of the barbarian peoples in the fifth century, describes the Germanic kingdoms, the brief Carolingian renaissance and the rise of feudalism. Early medieval Europe, ruralized and guided by the Church, contrasts its monastic culture with the Byzantine and Muslim worlds; it culminates with the year 1000 and the subsequent recovery.
It belongs to the Biblioteca Básica de Historia collection and was published in 2005; the volume includes bibliographic references and an index.
Recommended for ages 12 and up, it is a first approach to medieval history for young readers and students.
