«La banda de Berlín. Germans de sang» is the novel by Ernst Haffner, published by Edicions La Campana in paperback (216 pages, in Catalan).
A group of young Berliners ekes out a living in the poverty of 1930s Berlin and is drawn into a chain of petty crimes to survive. The novel follows their nights in dives and the loyalty that binds them as 'germans de sang', with visual prose that brings the reader close to a marginal underworld.
Written in 1932 under the original title 'Jugend auf der Landstrasse Berlin', it was banned and burned by the Nazis a year later. The translation by Ramon Farrés was published in 2015.
For readers of social and historical fiction, interested in interwar Berlin and works recovered after Nazi censorship.
