«La bête du Gévaudan» is the young-adult horror novel by José Féron-Romano, published by Livre de Poche Jeunesse in paperback (160 pages, in French).
In 1763, Gévaudan lives in terror of a beast that slashes the throats of women, children, and the elderly. Those who claim to have seen it insist it can only be a monkey or a werewolf; another says it has the jaws of a lion. The king sends his grand wolf-hunter and his soldiers to defeat the monster. Terror and mystery in eighteenth-century France.
Novel illustrated by Jean-Louis Henriot, number 267 in the Livre de Poche Jeunesse collection, 2008 edition.
Aimed at young readers aged 10 to 12 interested in mystery and horror.
