«La cabeza del cordero» is the short story collection by Francisco Ayala published by Alianza Editorial in paperback (211 pages, in Spanish).
It brings together five stories revolving around the Spanish Civil War, the author's personal experience and a key event in contemporary history. His narratives evoke the war as a portent, as a painful memory or as a more or less distant past, with a melancholic gaze, disillusioned irony and a sense of moral overcoming.
Work written in 1949, when the author was exiled in Buenos Aires. It is part of the El libro de bolsillo series, Biblioteca Ayala, from Alianza Editorial.
Francisco Ayala García-Duarte was a Spanish writer, the last representative of the Generation of '27.
