«La Caja Negra» is the epistolary novel by Amos Oz, published by Mondadori in the Mitos Bolsillo collection in paperback (330 pages, in Spanish).
Through a series of letters exchanged between several characters, the novel reveals the web of their relationships: insults intertwine with flattery, betrayal with generosity, and hatred with desire, against a backdrop of political, ethnic and religious tensions in Israeli society. It won the Fémina Prize in France in 1988.
Novel awarded the Fémina Prize 1988 and the Wingate Prize. The translation from Hebrew (original title «קופסה שחורה») was published in 1999 by Mondadori.
Amos Oz was an Israeli writer, novelist, journalist, and intellectual. He was also a professor of Hebrew literature at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev. From 1967 onwards, Oz was a prominent advocate of a two-state solution to the Israeli–Palestinian conflict.
