«La caverna de las ideas» is the crime novel by José Carlos Somoza, published by Punto de Lectura in paperback (416 pages, in Spanish).
A series of murders shakes Plato's Athens: several ephebes appear mutilated in the streets and Heracles Póntor, the Riddle Decipherer, investigates with the help of a philosopher from the Academy. An enigma novel where nothing is what it seems and where reading on can prove risky, in a game of fiction, fun and mirage.
Work originally published in 2001 and translated into several languages; this 2007 edition includes an unpublished interview with the author. Winner of the Macallan Gold Dagger.
Recommended for readers of crime and historical fiction who enjoy philosophical plots and intellectual games.
