«La ciudad del sol» is the critical bilingual edition of Tommaso Campanella's philosophical dialogue, published by Abraxas in paperback (214 pages, in Spanish).
A Genoese captain tells the Grand Master of the Knights Hospitaller about his visit to an ideal city governed as a theocracy, with goods, women, and children held in common. The work closes with an astrological prophecy: the Spanish kings, allied with the Pope, will be instruments of a divine plan to spread the true faith.
Edition with texts by Alberto Savinio and Louise Colet and notes by Jorge A. Sánchez. The original work, La città del sole, dates from 1602.
For students and readers interested in political philosophy, utopian thought, and Italian classics.
